For Bumbersnoot himself, I was poking about on the internet looking for ideas when I discovered wine cork holders. Why one would want such a thing is beyond me, however, they are metal, come in animal shapes and the dachshund one makes a perfect base for my Bumbersnoot!

His disguise is a square of white fabric with channels sewn in to thread ribbon through and tie around his middle. The back is sewn up to just below his tail, and the front is left open for his head. The holes for his feet are buttonholes.

I raided my box of lace and ribbon for the decoration. For the shoulder strap, I tied another piece of ribbon to the metal cage behind his head and in front of his tail. I contemplated adding purple and blue bows to match my dress, but didn’t have the right colour, and I actually quite like it all in neutrals.

Bumbersnoot stole the show at Wondercon. I think he got more compliments than I did!

  • I stumbled on this looking for reticule images for a library craft program. Your Bumbersnoot is so cute. Thanks for sharing how you made him.
