This is my latest dress; a 1912 day dress which I wore to the Lanterman Ragtime Tea Dance in Pasadena this weekend.

I used Retro Butterick 6093, and did the bodice of view A with the skirt of view B. The main peach fabric is casa crepe and the white is a lightweight cotton stripe (leftover from another project!). I did three small buttons on the belt instead of the bow in the pattern and left off the dickie (for now, I may add it later). I also fully lined the skirt, because the crepe turned out to be see-through!

The pattern went together very nicely, and quite quickly. I was very careful about making sure the waist sat in the right place, since others had mentioned that this was a problem area, but in the end I didn’t have to alter it at all. I am quite long-waisted, and the ladies who have had problems with that bit seem to be mostly short-waisted – so that may be why.

The hat is my trusty straw sunhat with a large square of lace gathered and fussed into frou-frou-ness and a flower which happened to be the right colour. The lace is attached to a band which I tacked to the hat, so it can be taken off and used on a different hat, should the occasion arise.
