Hello! My name is Catherine. I am a thirty-something translator with a full time office job, several cats and a passion for sewing.
This blog started as a way to answer the questions I receive on a regular basis: You made that? What pattern is it? What fabric? How long did it take you? What do you wear that stuff for?
It has become an outlet to connect with those who enjoy my work and hopefully to inspire them in their own creations. Â I write about my successes and failures. I do pattern reviews, tutorials and occasionally include my own patterns.
I enjoy all sorts of handicrafts including sewing, tablet weaving, embroidery, chainmail and anything else I can think of. Â I do historical reenactment with a Viking group, and go to Renaissance faires, Vintage picnics, Comicons, Victorian balls, Ragtime tea dances and any other event for which I can dress up. I also go to modern events in vintage outfits, because I can!
My objective here is to share my experience and my love of making things, and inspire others to create their own.
I hope you’ll join me on my creative journey, and perhaps embark on your own!
Â
Meet the team
Teazer (short for Rumpleteazer). 2002-2019 He is a 17 year-old orange tabby who thinks he is still a kitten. He would love to assist you with that ice cream and then lounge on your carefully laid-out fabric.
Ciara. 2003-2019 She is a 16 year old foster from the wonderful Maxfund Cat Shelter in Denver. She may be small but she will let you know when it is dinnertime!
Bushwick. 2007-present Bushwick is also a foster from Maxfund Cat Shelter. His greatest desire in life is to curl up on your lap and purr. Bushwick has been adopted by a lovely young lady, and now has his own forever-lap!
